Estil Concertant

The Ensemble

Created by Marisa Esparza in 1998, the ensemble is able to adapt to perform music by some of the most international European baroque and classical composers, drawing heavily on Spanish eighteenth-century composers, with the character and instruments of the period. The Ensemble regularly performs at the Palau de la Música in Valencia and records for the Arsis label.

The ensemble has performed at the Festival de Música Antigua y Barroca de Peñíscola, Semana de Música Antigua de Matarón, Salón Alfons el Magnànim de Valencia, Salon de Honor de les Invalides de Paris, Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca, Semana de Música Sacra de Requena, Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza, Festival Internacional de Galicia, Festival José de Nebra de Calatayud, Festival de Música Sacra de Tenerife, Mayo Musical de Huesca, Serenates al Claustre de la Universitat de València, among others.

The Ensemble has given revival performances of José de Nebra's Invitatorio, Antonio Soler's Las tres noches de Tinieblas, Villancicos al Nacimiento by Pascual Fuentes, José Pradas and Francisco Morera, Tonadas and Cantadas by Joaquín García, José de Torres's Requiem, Tonadillas Escénicas by Rosales, Misón and Laserna, the cantata Il Sogno, the operas Una cosa rara and La festa del villaggio and the ballet Dido Abandonada by Vicente Martín y Soler, as well as countless Spanish chamber works, working with conductors including Josep R. Gil-Tàrrega, Juan Luis Martínez and Hiro Kurosaki.

Their discography features trio sonatas by Pla, Todo ceda al amor and Villancico al Nacimiento by eighteenth-century Valencian composers for the Arsis label, Invitatorio Imperial and Lamentaciones by José de Nebra and Días de Gloria y Muerte by José de Torres for the Scoiedad Española de Musicología, as well as recordings for radio and television.
