Il Concerto Accademico

The Ensemble

It was founded in 2000 by the well-known violinist and teacher Margherita Marseglia, who has been its Director-Concertino since its creation. It has developed an intensive work programme allowing it to offer a wide repertoire extending from the baroque to the contemporary. Il Concerto Accademico has performed in important venues throughout Spain: the National Auditorium, Centro Conde-Duque, Casa de América and Casa Encendida in Madrid, and has achieved solid success in Germany during two tours of that country.

It is comprises a maximum of fourteen members whose highly-developed artistic qualities and close bond with the conductor favour, in the opinion of the specialist press, highly personal performances with great stylistic homogeneity, flexibility and artistic vitality.

Il Concerto Accademico is the first Spanish orchestra to make a live recording of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" with the RTVE label [Spain's equivalent to the BBC]; a second compact disc has been launched with RTVE sponsored by the Engineering Colleges of Murcia and Alicante. Still with the same record label in 2005 it brought out a recording titled "Música para El Quijote", sponsored this time by the University of Alicante, and a fourth titled "Música en la Ingeniería II". A new recording with RTVE is coming out in March 2007 to celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of the famous sculptor Francisco Salzillo. Tours of Scandinavia and Germany are planned for 2008.
