Ensemble Solistas de Sevilla

The Ensemble

Ensemble Solistas de Sevilla made their debut in the year 2000 in Seville, with the world premiere of the work Tonantzin by the composer Miguel Ángel Gris, commissioned by the Universidad de Sevilla for the occasion, with Pedro Halffter as guest conductor. Since then, and under the direction of Miguel Ángel Gris himself, the Ensemble has been invited to participate in some of the most important contemporary-music cycles and festivals in Spain. Their tours abroad have taken them to Argentina and Poland.

The Ensemble was responsible for the worldwide premiere of works by contemporary Spanish composers such as Javier Arias Bal, José María Benamente, A. Flores, Miguel Ángel Gris, Nicanor de las Heras, Tomás Marco, Fabián Panisello, Ramón Paus, Carlos Perón, Alejandro Román, Polo Vallejo and Joan Guinjoan.

The Ensemble Solistas de Sevilla has released four CDs. The first consists wholly of string quartets and forms part of the Contemporary Andalusian Composers collection, marketed on the label pertaining to the Centro de Documentación de Música de Andalucía. The second contains works by Manuel de Falla, Manuel Castillo, Tomás Marco and Miguel Ángel Gris, and was made in collaboration with the Seville City Council. The Ensemble's third recording is made up of works by Luis de Pablo and Francisco Guerrero and is available on the Autor label, while the fourth, exclusively containing wind quintets once again forms part of the Contemporary Andalusian Composers collection pertaining to the Centro de Documentación de Música de Andalucía. The members of the Ensemble perform as both soloists and members of some of the most important Spanish orchestras and institutions.
