The Ensemble
Orquesta Barroca La Dispersione was founded in 1999 as the result of various musicians' interest in performing the European musical repertoire, chiefly that of the late 17th century and the first half of the 18th century, using historically informed instruments and criteria. The ensemble has performed at music festivals such as "Cartagena en clave", "Festival de Música del Mediterráneo", ORFIM (Oropesa Festival Internacional de Música) and "Sagunt in excelsis", etc., among others, offering various programmes of instrumental and vocal music.
In the field of religious music, the group has performed several cantatas by J. S. Bach, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Membra Jesu Nostri by D. Buxtehude, The St John Passion by J. S. Bach, etc., as well as Handel's opera Acis & Galatea and a stage version of Pergolesi's La serva padrona. In July, 2006, La Dispersione was invited by the Curso de Música Antigua in Gijón to perform F. Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina under the direction of Roberto Gini. In 2005, La Dispersione recorded a concert in the Renaissance monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes de Valencia for Televisión Valenciana's programme Música y lugares.
Since 2003, La Dispersione has organized the early music workshop "Curso de Música Antigua" which is held in Guadassuar (Valencia) in cooperation with Agostino Cirillo, Olivia Centurioni and Leonardo Luckert.
